CAC policies require users to reset their email passwords as well as their network passwords every 90 days. You will receive a notification alert (10) ten days before they expire. It is important that you take the time to reset your password(s) when you receive those alerts. You can reset both your email password as well as your network password on your own. However, if you fail to reset your password before it expires, you will need to submit an I.T. Helpdesk ticket to get this reset by the I.T. staff.


The following provides instructions for resetting both your email password and your network password.

How to change your Active Directory Windows/network password
1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete


2. Select “Change A Password”


3. Enter your old password.
Then enter your new password two times.
NOTE: Passwords will have to contain the following:
• Passwords must be a minimum of eight (8) characters in length.
• Passwords must contain characters from three of the following four
• categories:

  1. Uppercase characters (A through Z)
  2. Lowercase characters (a through z)
  3. Base digits (0 through 9)
  4. Non-alphanumeric characters: (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)


Press the “arrow” button or press Enter.


4. Your password will indicate that it has been changed.

 

How to change your CAC Email password
1. If you receive the notification and are prompted to change your email password, you can simply click that alert which will automatically take you to the password reset prompt.
Otherwise, Login to the CAC email from the website (https://office.com)

 

2. Click the icon in the top right-corner of the website beside your name.


3. Select the “My Account” option.


4. Click the “Password” link.

 

5. Enter your old password, your new password two times and click the “Submit” button.

 

Passwords will have to contain the following:

categories:

  1. Uppercase characters (A through Z)
  2. Lowercase characters (a through z)
  3. Base digits (0 through 9)
  4. Non-alphanumeric characters: (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)


6. If you use the Outlook application to access your computer, you will be prompted to enter the new password upon the first login after your password change.


7. If you use a cell phone to access your email, you will be prompted to enter the new password upon the first login after your password change.
